TROUBLESHOOTING THE MELLO™ SMART WATER HEATER THERMOSTAT 

Mello App will not connect and is displaying “MFA code is expired or invalid”.
Check to make sure the Mello device is online by navigating to the home screen using the center button. There should be a cloud icon in the upper right corner of the screen. If there is a flashing WiFi icon in the upper right corner, this indicates that your device has disconnected from the WiFi. To reboot the device, press a small pin into the small circular hole on the back of the device. When the device reboots, you should see a cloud icon in the upper right of the device.

If there is a solid WiFi icon, this indicates that the device has a solid connection to the home WiFi, but the home WiFi network is not connected to the internet. This will need to be troubleshooted with the home internet provider.

Hot water feels too hot or too cold

Use the arrow buttons on the front of the Mello smart thermostat to increase or decrease the temperature set-point on the water heater. Press the center button between the arrows to save your changes. You may also use the phone app to adjust the setpoint. 

Water heater provides a small amount of very hot water, and then provides lukewarm water.
This indicates an issue with the settings on the mechanical thermostats which may not have been correctly adjusted during the installation. Review the instructions in steps 8 and 9 to make sure the upper thermostat is set to about 115F and the lower thermostat is set to about 135F.
Device is not responding to changes made on the app
If your device is not responding to the changes made in the app, the device may be offline. If the device is online, a cloud icon will be displayed in the upper right corner of the main screen. If the device is offline, it will display a WiFi icon in the upper right. If offline, the device may need to be rebooted. Reboot  the device by placing
During WiFi set up, Mello device stops broadcasting “PE WiFi Setup”

The Mello WiFi network will only broadcast for 5 minutes for security purposes. If there is a delay in the WiFi setup process, you may need to return to the WiFi setup screen on the Mello to initiative WiFi broadcasting.
