Packetized Energy Announces Scott Johnstone As CEO BURLINGTON, Vt. –– Packetized Energy is pleased to welcome Scott Johnstone, formerly of the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC), as CEO. The energy start-up works with utilities installing systems designed to enable electricity demand to balance, in real time, with renewable supply.

With a resume that includes executive experience across public, private and nonprofit sectors, Johnstone is a “perfect fit” for the company, according to Packetized Energy President Paul Hines. As the CEO of VEIC for nine years, Johnstone expanded energy efficiency and renewable programs nationwide while building partnerships with government entities and utilities, work which led to reduced greenhouse gases and increases in clean energy jobs. At VEIC Johnstone also created multiple new businesses to expand the company’s reach. He also served as Secretary of the Vermont Agency for Natural Resources and as Managing Director of the District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility. “Scott’s experience launching new clean energy companies, coupled with his understanding of how to build the culture needed for rapid and enduring growth, is just what we’re looking for,” said Hines. “We are excited to add his experience and business acumen at a time when we are launching products and growing the company.”

For his part, Johnstone says he “could not be more excited to join the team.” “Packetized Energy has built an amazing service that will save us all money by improving how the electric grid operates, one appliance at a time,” said Johnstone. “Everyone involved gets to save or make money at the same time that reliability is improved, greenhouse gases are reduced, and our grid is, finally, used efficiently.”

“The Packetized Energy team has always had the foresight, focus, and brain
power necessary to create this amazing service,” said Bob Zulkoski of Vermont Works Management Company, LLC, an anchor investor in the company. “By bringing on Scott, Packetized Energy now has the leadership and additional business skills needed to grow the company.” Johnstone joined the team as of January 1. He and his wife Marcy live in Grand Isle, Vermont.
