MADS ALMASSALKHI, Co-Founder
Originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, Mads earned a PhD in electrical engineering: systems from U Michigan and has expertise in optimization, real-time control and energy analytics. He previously led development of SaaS energy technology at Root3 Technologies, including UX/UI design and predictive optimization and analytics. He directs multi-million dollar US Dept. of Energy projects on advanced grid technologies and has built an international network of research and electricity industry partnerships.
PIERRE BULL, Senior Project Manager
Pierre is based in the Bay Area of California and leads technology deployment and scaleup for Packetized Energy in California and the Western U.S. He previously led the implementation of clean and distributed technology pilot deployment projects located throughout California at the Center for Sustainable Energy. Pierre brings a wealth of industry experience and professional relationships from prior work that includes energy efficiency program design and deployment, utility regulatory oversight, and climate and renewable energy advocacy spanning both state and federal policy levels.
GREGG CARPENTER, Sr. IoT Engineer
Gregg brings a diverse electrical engineering background and a passion for embedded system solutions that help make the world a better place. While completing a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the U. of Vermont focused on coupling mobile robotic platforms with wireless sensor networks, he conducted research in HID control interfaces with NASA’s Intelligent Robotics Group. His previous work includes DRAM VLSI circuit design, and architecting and implementing high performance microcontroller-based embedded firmware solutions for micro-inertial sensing and navigation systems.
MIKE FELIX, Software Engineer
After a decade of managing programs for internationally-focused non-profits, Mike has spent the last several years building software for a number of technology startups. He has taken products from concept, to MVP, to feature-rich products that scale for success. At Packetized Energy he is applying his mobile and web development skills and experience to help create a clean energy future.
JEFF FROLIK, Co-Founder
Jeff has focused his career on the research and application of sensor networks, wireless communications and algorithms. With a PhD from U Michigan in electrical engineering, he has expertise in enabling smart devices to communicate effectively and securely. He previously worked at Hughes Aircraft and consulted internationally on communication satellite systems. He holds patents related to sensing, wireless communications and signal processing and is co-inventor of the core technology behind Packetized Energy.
PAUL HINES, Co-Founder, CEO
Paul has a background in grid modeling and electricity markets and with a PhD in engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon, has focused his career on solving the problems in electric power systems and is co-inventor of the core technology behind Packetized Energy. With previous work as an electrical engineer at Black & Veatch and Alstom-ESCA and in research for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and US Dept. of Energy National Labs, he has built extensive relationships at all levels of the electricity industry.
VANESSA HINES, Communications
Vanessa brings international experience in policy analysis for economic growth, market research for health tech commercialization and communication for partnership development. She has a MBA from U Vermont and with a career focused on sustainability, previously worked with USAID, Philips, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.
SARAH HOWERTER, Data Scientist
SETH MACIEJOWSKI, Director of Energy IoT
Seth pursued electrical engineering as an undergraduate at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and completed a Master’s of Electrical Engineering at the University of Vermont. Over his career he has worked with a number of startups and small companies as they have scaled to higher capacities in the medical, energy and defense fields. In addition to his work in the for-profit domain, Seth has actively led a non-profit land conservation organization through multiple complex land transactions. His direct interests lie in developing tightly integrated electrical and software systems at the embedded level, working on technologies that lead to a sustainable future and also in leading teams to succeed at ambitious goals. Working at Packetized Energy checks all three of these boxes.
PATRICK MURPHY, Sr. Software Engineer
An English-major-cum-software-engineer, Patrick enjoys the collaborative process of building software products with teams, and is a bit of a romantic about the untapped potentials of technological application. After a career working as a full-stack engineer at pharmaceutical and marketing consultancies serving Fortune 500 clients, as well as Burlington, VT area stalwart Dealer.com, Packetized Energy offers an opportunity to marry his professional background with a mission to build a better, more efficient world.
BONNIE WYLIE PRATT, Director of Energy Projects
Bonnie began her career at the Citigroup Private Bank in San Francisco and Boston. She then completed an MBA at Babson and co-founded her first tech startup, Radius Tracking Systems. She has consulted with numerous startups on go-to-market strategies and co-founded Reconciled, an online bookkeeping company. Bonnie earned a PhD in Natural Resources and a Certificate in Complex Systems from the University of Vermont. Her dissertation, Enabling Innovation in the Energy System Transition, combined her education in energy systems with her background in business and tech entrepreneurship. She leads Packetized Energy’s grid edge flexibility programs to fulfill her goal of bringing important renewable energy technologies to market.
KARYN ROBERTS, Finance/HR
Karyn brings extensive experience in IT application development, project management, and systems/business/financial analysis. She’s worked previously with IBM Consulting Group, Ford Motor Company and Hewlett-Packard. With a MBA from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, she enjoys her role in managing for profitability and growing the team.
MATTHEW SESSIONS, Director of Software Engineering
Matt has spent his career working on large scale SAAS applications that serviced millions of users in the education industry. He has built products across mobile and web technology platforms, including the servers that supported those applications. Matt is passionate about building great products that solve real-world problems.
Our advisory board provides guidance on business strategy, product development, and financing. With diverse experience in scaling in the clean energy sector, product design, software development, finance and marketing, our board is actively positioning us for rapid growth.
Michael brings deep experience in product design, development, manufacturing, marketing and sales. As president of Elite Jewelry and his own firm Michael Beer Associates, he developed international sales channels in strategic foreign markets and provided leadership to build lasting brands.
Scott has provided executive level leadership in the private, public and non-profit sectors including founding six companies and serving as Packetized Energy’s first CEO. He previously served as CEO of Vermont Energy Investment Corporation where he grew revenue 4x to over $100+ million. He has built deep connections in energy industry with experience building partnerships nationwide. An engineer by training, Scott focuses on building strong, innovative and growing organizations to solve energy and climate issues.
Kim previously led business development at Packetized Energy and continues to advise on business strategy, drawing on over a decade of experience in clean energy. Kim co-founded CodeCycle, a software solution for cities and design teams to improve energy code compliance in buildings. Her background includes energy policy development for the global engineering firm Arup and building efficiency standards work for the State of California.
Tim Healy brings a career of senior executive experience in energy, utilities and demand response solutions. He served for over 16 years as Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC, providing energy intelligence and demand response solutions to utilities, grid operators and enterprises. Under his leadership, EnerNOC grew from a startup to an international leader in energy management, with nearly $500 million in annual revenues, before being acquired by Enel Green Power North America in 2017.
In addition to his executive experience, Healy has been a board member or executive advisor to various companies including Veregy, P3 Energy, and Genability. He has recently served as an executive advisor to Blackstone’s Energy group and to Kepler Energy, and is a strategic advisor to inBalance.
CONDUIT CAPITAL & 51 NORTH PARTNERS
With an international career in corporate finance, governance, strategy and entrepreneurship, Nina serves as the Capital Management Director of the Conduit Capital, investment arm of The London’s Conduit Club. Nina is also a Co-founder and Managing Partner of 51North Partners, predominantly responsible for private equity investments in renewable energy and infrastructure development as well as related transactions with corporate social responsibility awareness.
Nina’s achievements include: managing the acquisition of Africa’s largest public-private partnership: a geothermal power project by a Meridiam investment fund, valued at $4BN; raising capital for a Turkish special energy acquisition of operational renewable power assets; serving as ongoing financial advisor to Reykjavik Geothermal; and developing a renewable energy platform, Clean Energy Co., designed to invest in large global renewable energy projects.
Laury brings expertise and two decades of experience in market strategy and analysis. Her company, Vernal Ventures, invests in early-stage businesses solving environmental problems in the clean energy and food system sectors.
Bjoern brings expertise in software architecture, cloud technologies and product development. He currently heads software based feature development for BMW’s autonomous driving. He previously directed software development at Altair Engineering and co-founded Root3 Technologies where he served as chief architect.
With expertise in software product design and development, Hemal has deep roots throughout the software industry and Silicon Valley. He has been a primary advisor to a number of acquired software companies and has developed and managed software products for Twitter and currently for Instagram. Hemal was recently named a Forbes 30under30 in Consumer Tech.
Allison Bates Wannop has directed her own consulting and legal practice, focusing on energy law and regulation. With a J.D. degree from Northwestern Law and a B.A. from Harvard, she previously served as Special Counsel to the Vermont Department of Public Service. Having previously enforced compliance with state renewable energy standards and reviewed numerous regulatory filings, Wannop advises Packetized on providing regulators the data and insights needed to develop an effective regulatory environment for a clean energy future.
With deep experience in international investment management, Bob serves as Chairman and Managing Partner of Vermont Works, an investment firm focused on early-stage companies creating positive social impact. He has built a number of large-scale fund management businesses, has played a lead role in a number of other successful business start-ups, including as Chairman of Greenlots.
